Child Care for Medical Appointments

Children’s Waiting Room enables service members, veterans, and their families to make health and well-being a priority. This unique program provides child care services at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), enabling parents to keep scheduled appointments without the stress of finding child care outside of the hospital. This service is available to those attending an appointment on the TAMC campus.

Accessing this Program

  • Available to active duty and retired service members and their dependents with ID.
  • Provides up to two hours of supervision for children during medical appointments.
  • Care is provided for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
  • Reservations are highly recommended for morning hours, and required for afternoon hours. We recommend reservations be made as far in advance as possible.
  • Closed on hospital training days, weekends, and federal holidays.

Operating Hours:
Monday to Friday
Morning Hours: 7:30am-11:45am, walk-ins welcome when available
Afternoon Hours: 12:30pm-2:45pm, by appointment only

Cost for Up to 2 Hours of Care:

  • $5 per child

Your child(ren) must be registered for the Children’s Waiting Room prior to scheduling your first reservation.

A copy of your child’s immunization records are also required, along with proof of flu shot and TB test/clearance within the last 12 months. Required documents must be turned in at least 24 hours prior to your first appointment to childrenswaitingroom@asymca.org.

  • We accept children from 6 weeks up to 12 years of age
  • Maximum drop off time is ONLY the duration of your medical appointment, not to exceed 2 hours.
  • Children with morning appointments MUST be picked up by 11:45am. Afternoon appointments pick up by 2:45pm.
  • All children MUST wear covered shoes if they are walking.
  • All infants (under 12 months) must wear socks or baby shoes.
  • Diaper/pull ups, wipes, and a change of clothes must be provided. Please be sure to change your child’s diaper/pull up before dropping them off at the CWR.
  • Belongings must be labeled with child’s name.
  • The ASYMCA is not responsible for lost/stolen items.
  • We allow the children to have light snacks (crackers & juice) if parents provide the snack.
  • NO PEANUTS OR PEANUT PRODUCTS ALLOWED. We are a peanut free facility.
  • We allow bottles or sippy cups.
  • The parent must premix bottles of formula before leaving the CWR.
  • NO MEDICATION will be given at the CWR.
  • Not returning the CLINIC VALIDATION FORM to the CWR Staff upon pickup may result in loss of CWR privileges.

The CWR reserves the right to refuse admittance of any child who:

  • Has a temperature of 99 degrees or higher
  • Shows any signs of illness
  • DOES NOT HAVE SHOT RECORDS
